Banana Cue
A classic Filipino street food made with deep-fried caramelized bananas skewered on sticks.
Ingredients
- -8 ripe saba bananas (plantains)
- -1 cup brown sugar
- -2 cups cooking oil (for frying)
- -Barbecue sticks (optional)
Instructions
- -Heat cooking oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- -Add the bananas to the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes.
- -Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the frying bananas.
- -Continue frying while stirring gently to coat the bananas with the caramelized sugar.
- -Once the sugar fully coats the bananas and becomes sticky, remove them from the oil.
- -Skewer each banana onto barbecue sticks, if desired, and let them cool slightly.
