Ensaymada
A soft, fluffy, and cheesy Filipino pastry perfect for snacks or desserts.
Ingredients
- -3 cups all-purpose flour
- -1/2 cup sugar
- -1/4 cup butter, softened
- -1 tsp salt
- -2 tsp instant yeast
- -1/2 cup warm milk
- -3 egg yolks
- -Grated cheese (for topping)
- -Butter and sugar (for glaze)
Instructions
- -In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- -Add egg yolks, softened butter, and salt. Mix well.
- -Gradually add flour and knead until dough is smooth and elastic.
- -Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- -Divide the dough into portions, shape into rolls, and place on a greased tray.
- -Let the rolls rise again for 30 minutes.
- -Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- -Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar, and top with grated cheese.
