Leche Flan

A rich, creamy, and silky caramel custard dessert loved by Filipinos.

Leche Flan

Ingredients

  • -10 egg yolks
  • -1 can (14 oz) condensed milk
  • -1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • -1 tsp vanilla extract
  • -1 cup sugar (for caramel)
  • -1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. -In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves and turns golden brown to create caramel.
  2. -Pour the caramel into llanera (molds) and spread evenly. Let it cool and set aside.
  3. -In a mixing bowl, whisk egg yolks, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. -Strain the mixture to remove any bubbles or impurities for a smooth texture.
  5. -Pour the mixture into the prepared llanera molds with set caramel.
  6. -Cover the molds with aluminum foil and steam for 30-35 minutes or until set.
  7. -Let the leche flan cool completely before refrigerating for at least 2 hours.
  8. -Run a knife along the edges and invert the mold onto a serving plate to release the flan.
