Leche Flan
A rich, creamy, and silky caramel custard dessert loved by Filipinos.
Ingredients
- -10 egg yolks
- -1 can (14 oz) condensed milk
- -1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- -1 tsp vanilla extract
- -1 cup sugar (for caramel)
- -1/4 cup water
Instructions
- -In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves and turns golden brown to create caramel.
- -Pour the caramel into llanera (molds) and spread evenly. Let it cool and set aside.
- -In a mixing bowl, whisk egg yolks, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- -Strain the mixture to remove any bubbles or impurities for a smooth texture.
- -Pour the mixture into the prepared llanera molds with set caramel.
- -Cover the molds with aluminum foil and steam for 30-35 minutes or until set.
- -Let the leche flan cool completely before refrigerating for at least 2 hours.
- -Run a knife along the edges and invert the mold onto a serving plate to release the flan.
